Marc Stanley, 2d Lt., Public Affairs Officer
On Thursday 15 January, Palwaukee Composite Squadron hosted an open ACUT (Advanced Communications User Training) course. Ten Group 22 officers attended the 4 hour session with 8 of them earning indefinite certification to act as CAP radio operators based upon their performance on a written exam. Individuals with lower test scores secured the BCUT (Basic Communications User Training) rating and also were given feedback regarding areas for further study.
The ACUT course provides the student with an overview of radio principles, CAP equipment and most of all,...how to use them effectively. This training is really a basic requirement for effective participation in Emergency Services training as well as actual operations. While this course provides CAP members with fundamental skills enabling them to function in real-mission environments, it is expected that they will also continue to receive proficiency training throughout their careers with the organization.
Palwaukee members who attended the ACUT training were: Capt. Griggs, Lt. Gould, Lt. Stys, Lt. McKnight, Lt. Card, Lt. Trimarco and Lt. Valazquez. The next Emergency Services training event will be held on 27 January during regular meeting hours. Lt. Scott McKnight has planned a variety of training exercises for the next few months; please feel free to contact him with any questions.
