Marc Stanley, 2d Lt., Public Affairs Officer
Palwaukee Squadron's second annual fundraising dinner and silent auction was held the evening of May 9, 2009 at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Wheeling, IL. Some 50 Squadron members and supporters enjoyed a lovely evening with conversation, good food and a cozy setting.
We were able to raise some $3,000 in a fun way and these proceeds will be used to offset operating expenses as well as to help us secure a new location on airport grounds. We are grateful to the local merchants and organizations who made such generous contributions and would particularly like to thank Signature Flight Services and Chicago Executive Airport for their continued support and partnership.
This event was organized by our indefatigable Captain Jim Griggs who spent many hours coordinating with the Restaurant, securing donations for the silent auction and leading other volunteers. This evening would not have been possible without his considerable efforts. Thanks Jim!
Plans are now being made for a 1940s-themed hangar dance to be held at Chicago Executive Airport this August. While this event is still in the planning stages, we envision vintage cars and aircraft, reenactors dressed in period costumes and uniforms and a live swing band. Please contact Lt. Col. Lou Wipotnik at jan.lou@comcast.net for more information.
