Jim Griggs, 1st Lt., CAP
Palwaukee Composite Squadron
On Sunday, 12 August 2007, members of the Palwaukee Composite Squadron flew a photo mission for the Chicago Police Department. The mission consisted of taking pictures of infrastructure, which had been previously selected by the Deployment Operations Center. This will allow the City of Chicago to update their photo database of said infrastructure.
Aircrew consisted of Lt. Col. Lou Wipotnik (MP), Capt. Joe Long (MO), and Major Robert Williams (MS). On the ground, Capt. Paul Hanna and 1st Lt. Jim Griggs worked as Liason Officers with members of the Chicago Police Department. It should be noted that one of the CPD Marine Unit crew members participating in the mission was one of PWK’s very own, 2d Lt. Stan Kuprianczyk.
The mission lasted a few hours, with very accomodating weather. After the selected targets had been photographed and received, the customer stated that they were very happy with the results. The possibility of repeat scenarios was left on the table, pending further approvals from the CPD chain of command.
