PWK Awarded Unit Citation

After 70 years, the Palwaukee Squadron has been recognized with award of a Unit Citation. The citation recognizes 'above and beyond' service between the period of 01 September 2008 and 01 October 2010.

The citation was formally presented at the 2011 ILWG Conference in Springfield, IL on 02 April 2011by the Great Lakes Region commander, Col. Robert Karton, and the ILWG commander, Col. Gordon Larson. Receiving the citation for the unit was deputy Commander / Seniors, Capt. John Trimarco.

The Squadron will be presented the award, and have the streamer pinned on to it's Colors during the 03 May meeting at Chgo Executive Airport. Presiding at that night's ceremony will be the in-coming Group 22 commander, Major Brian Pokuta.

Also recognized at the Wing conference were two Palwaukee officers: Major Ken Stone, Safety Officer of the Year, and Major Robert Dempsey, Cadet Program Officer of the Year. Their certificates will also be presented during the 03 May ceremony.

This year's conference awards marks a banner month for Palwaukee Squadron, created in December 1941. In addition to Mitchell Awards awarded to Cadets Watson, LaMarche, and DeMaeyer, Captains Gillingham and Trivedi have recently completed their Loening Award for the Senior Program Level 3 achievements, to be awarded at a future date. Also on the senior side, 1st Lt. Gillman has completed his Level 2 Davis Award this month.
